good choice First thing you need to know is the lenses which you will be able to use with the camera, i bought with the kit lens, it is quite usefull but not enought in cases where i work much for instance the scenes where i catch the sunlight directly. But there are lots of lenses you can use with this camera as sigma's and pentax * lenses are very good. Because of financial problems as i am a student it is not so easy for me to buy a new lens. As soon as possible i am planning to buy a sigma apo 70-300. To mention about camera,
Battery life is quite long, but it deads instantly, you have to buy an extra battery if you take too much photos without charging the battery. the 3 fps continious shot is very helpfull. yesterday i take
1800 frames continious with one battery.
the opening speed is good, when you turn on the camera it is ready for shooting, good for fast moments.
the jpeg picture quality is good but raw is awesome.
Camera has many mechanical looking controls on it, which i feel i am using an oldschool type camera (i like that way)
You have too much picture controls, camera's default saturation sharpness and hue controls gives more freedom as well as incredible white balance control. You can control white balance via ready applets or yourself depending on the efect you want to exert on photo.
body fits my hand as it is an extension to my body.
it is stiff and hard, and most improtant dust and water resistant quite well.and tried by me under the rain.
